Founded originally as a Viking settlement, Dublin grew to become a
thriving centre of trade and commerce by the 8th century. The seat
of Government for centuries first by Norman and then British rulers,
the city finally became the capital city of an independent Irish State
in 1922. Dublin boasts a fine cultural and architectural heritage,
the evidence of which is all around in its Museums and Theatres, and
many beautiful Georgian squares and houses, such as Merrion Square
are within walking distance of Fitzsimons.
Nearby at College Green is the magnificent Bank of Ireland building,
home of the first Irish Parliament and Trinity College with its impressive
architecture and home to the Book of Kells written in the 6th century
A.D. A five-minute stroll south of there through fashionable Grafton
Street brings one to St. Stephen’s Green.
Dublin is a friendly city and there is something here for every age
and taste. At Fitzsimons we will endeavour to ensure that your visit
is a happy and memorable one. |
